At the beautiful wedding venue of Buxted Park Hotel nr Uckfield East Sussex was the celebration of a fabulous 40th Birthday for a fellow cake maker! Buxted Park Hotel is a stunning wedding and party venue in East Sussex and is near Uckfield in stunning countryside.

We chose a Cupcake Tower with Baileys and Malibu flavourings and both Bailey’s cupcakes and Red Velvets were frosted with more boozey fluffy buttercream. Simple cream rose swirls with a sprinkle of red sparkle added to the look.

They were encased in beautiful cupcake holders in a pretty black filligree case and blood red roses set the cakes off beautifully with the dark green leaves.
On the top we had a huge pair of hand crafted chocolate designer shoes (actually a size 6)on their shoe box made by the hostess herself and covered in glitter and of course those fabulous red soles!
The theme for the evening was fabulous, decadent and vampy and the vodka luge, Champagne, cheese stack and casino tables looked amazing!

The Orangery where the party was held is one of Buxted Park Hotel’s stunning events rooms.
It was a truly fabulous display.

This week is also party week but for the more younger of our clients so for a 1st birthday cake it is always special and so onto that we go!

Wedding cake Tunbridge Wells Kent

I had a fantastic time near Tunbridge Wells Kent making this amazing wedding cake for a special event on the borders of East Sussex and Kent.
This cake was a design I was really excited to be making and so now hope to be making lot’s more!

The technique used is a new one called Sugarveil and I have been looking forward to using this on a variety of celebration, wedding, christening and birthday cakes and cupcake’s
This beautiful 3 tier bespoke wedding cake designed as a dress is made from delicious sponge with a fruity centre can be made in any colourway and is also fabulous as a birthday or celebration cake too.The technique enables me to make the fondant replicate fabric and looks beautiful on both vintage and contemporary wedding cakes.

This technique can also be used on cupcake’s and most sugarcrafting. It was a bit tricky to learn but the finished results certainly outweighed the amount of ‘oh no’s’ flying around the kitchen! Ha ha I am now a dab hand! I love to hear what colours are on trend for this season and so would welcome any ideas you may have for the next project!

It was great fun to make and I loved every minute, this was a ‘secret project’ of mine and if I say so myself I was chuffed to pieces with the results! I am looking forward to designing a tutu cake for any ballerina’s out there! I am thinking pale pink, soft and with a hint of blush sparkle!

This week I am making a rather special birthday cake for a rather special little girl’s 1st birthday which I am looking forward to, I might even get a piece myself!

In  the kitchen at La Maison East Sussex this week we have been making bespoke novelty cakes with Pugs and Giraffes popping up all over the Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge areas!

The two birthday girls, Neisha  and Laura who these cakes were for were delighted to see these cakes come to life after the descriptions given and the passion they have for their pets (not the Giraffe’s)!

Delicious light and fluffy vanilla cupcakes with a creamy frosting is the munchy part!

Whilst doing my Pug research in Tunbridge Wells Kent sitting with a cheeky latte I noticed all the cute dogs wandering around the town and then honed in to all the Pug’s passing me by!
